Nursing is one of the backbone professions of our healthcare
system. Nurses serve in hospitals, in physicians practices,
in clinics, as health visitors, in business and in industry.
Their duties range from the traditional bedside care to
research, from in the surgical theater to on the factory
floor.
There are two kinds of registration for nurses, that
of LPN (Licensed Practice Nurse) and that of RN (Registered
Nurse). Healthcare nursing schools offer one year courses
for LPNs, and two and four year courses for RNs, resulting
in an associate degree or a BSN (Bachelor of Science in
Nursing).
Courses include subjects such as anatomy, physiology,
nursing care, pharmacology, and other related subjects.
Students have practical experience in nursing situations
as well as classroom instruction. Career prospects are
good – there is a growing demand for nurses, and
promotion prospects are good too. Train as a nurse, and
you’ll have a career for life.
